Barbara J. Brunnick is a marine mammal specialist and mapmaker. She currently leads the Palm Beach Dolphin Project, the main conservation research program of the Taras Oceanographic Foundation, headquartered in Jupiter, Florida. This long-term study of dolphins under a General Authorization from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) aims as gathering critical baseline data on dolphins and their habitat, and shed light on how the health of dolphins and the oceans are related to our own well-being. Under her guidance, students of local high schools and colleges have the opportunity to take their first steps in marine mammal science and conservation biology.
