Henriette van Praag, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Science at the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. Her research pertains to the structural and functional plasticity of brain areas that are important for learning and memory. The goal is to understand the mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of exercise on adult neurogenesis, and more broadly on mood and cognition.

 

This is part of our Meet the Scientist Lecture Series, which promotes and facilitates the pursuit of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and encourages communication between scientists and residents of the communities in which they live and work.

Since its inception in 2004, this program has introduced more than 100 national and international world-class scientists and researchers associated with a variety of local, national and international organizations to our coastal community.
